What Instagram’s ID Verify Means

Article Submitted by iClimber

That little blue verification check mark that has been so common on Twitter over the years is beginning to become more commonplace on other social media platforms. In particular, Instagram has moved to make it as easy as possible for users to receive the check mark on their profile.

What was once a somewhat mysterious and secretive verification process is now as easy as clicking a few buttons in your app. However, first, you need to make sure that you are eligible for verification.

Insta’s policies state that the blue badge is to signify that an account is the “authentic presence of a notable public figure, celebrity, global brand or entity.” As such, if you do not fall into one of these categories, you probably won’t be able to become verified.

If you do fit one of those descriptions, you can request verification in the following way:

Request Verification

Simply log into your app, head to “Settings” and then click on the “Request Verification” section.

Prove It

In order to process your verification, the app will ask you for relevant documents to prove your identity. This could include your passport, driver’s license, or other forms of ID.

Be Patient

Having submitted your documentation, all that is left to do is wait. You will eventually receive a notification to let you know if your verification application has been approved or denied. If you are denied, you can apply again in 30 days.
